5 out of 5 stars Very decent set for the money   March 9, 2010
Michael A. Duvernois (Minneapolis, MN United States)
All of the little accessories are relatively expensive if you pick them up at your local guitar store. This kit gives you everything you need in one fell swoop. The quality isn't bad at all for the price. Besides, if you're just learning the guitar, you're not sure if you'll stick with it and if you don't, any more money would be wasted.

My advice for people looking at cheaper kits than this one is to think about how they react to frustration. If they overcome it easily, then maybe a cheaper kit could work for you. But if not, then you'll be extremely unhappy with them. When you get to $40-50 guitars, they are very unlikely to have been looked at by anyone other than the underpaid laborer working on it. There's a real chance you'll ship it back for replacement as the broken rate is relatively high.

I bought this guitar kit for my teenage son for Christmas. Unfortunately before the sun went down Christmas day the guitar already had 2 broken strings!! He has had the same old guitar since he was 9 and although out of tune the strings have never broken. Needless to say, i was disappointed with this purchase. Great value if the guitar wasnt so cheaply made.

I ordered this pack for my daughter this last Christmas. She loves it! It was an excellent buy. It came with everything listed and seems to be of good quality. The guitar seems to be of a sturdy design and construction and has beautiful sound (To us anyway). Even I am making an attempt to learn to play it. The book "Guitar for Dummies" is very informative and easy enough to follow. We are having great fun. Thanks, Amazon.

4 out of 5 stars worth it   February 11, 2010

I bought this set for my husband. With the guitar being the most important part of the deal it was great. case is more of a cover, the book is basic(not in a bad way) ... but the tuner didnt seem to work too well. I say for someone that is just learning and wanting to see if they like it this is the perfect route to go.

Guitar works fine. Cd is Great book is ok. But the darn Gig bag busted a zipper 5 minuets after I took it out of the box. Otherwise a solid product.
