Customer Reviews:
5 out of 5 stars Tried one--want to buy it!   March 30, 2010

I went into our local music store and spotted this guitar hanging on the rack. While it isn't fancy, wow, what a great tone and I agree with the last review--it was very easy on the fingers. Although I have played for a very long time, I have just recently begun to play more regularly--coinciding with the purchase of a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe--so I do have calluses, but this was just flat out easy to play. I am a 5'3" female, so I always look for something that fits me sizewise and this was perfect. The only problem is that I already have six guitars and really don't need another, but this Martin 000X1 may be hard to resist.

5 out of 5 stars Great sound, Great Price, Great guitar   August 17, 2009

The Martin X series guitars are one of the best values on the market, but that's not all. I have owned four Martins, the last a beautiful D35. My 000X1 doesn't have quite the tonal resonance of that big dreadnought body, but the sound, tone and consistency throughout the range is nothing short of brilliant. To top it off, this is one of the finger friendliest Martins I have ever played. I don't play enough, and so I don't have the fingertip callouses to handle a tough fretboard. Most Martins are relatively tough on the fingers, but this one has a decidedly light touch by comparison. There is no doubt that except for the top down view of the flawless spruce top, the sides and back look like...well, composite with a wood photo finish. Still, it has a simple but functional appearance. I happen to like the no frills theme, and the smooth rolled joinery between the top and the sides. The laminated neck is beautifully shaped and is tougher than anything solid. Martin must have decided that it had to make an effort to appease the environmentalist in us, but it has done even more. They have produced a light, tough, good sounding guitar at a quarter the price of its more expensive brethren. Now, that's brilliant!
